Large-Scale Insulation for Steel Hydraulic Structures
During the construction of a new pumped-storage power plant, a pipeline in the steel hydraulic structure had to be reliably electrically insulated. With an exceptionally large nominal diameter of DN2200 and high flow rates, the connection posed special requirements in terms of design, leak tightness, and mechanical strength. In addition, long-term corrosion protection had to be ensured, and static charges had to be prevented to protect personnel.
ISOFLANGES supplied a precisely engineered DN2200 PN10 insulating flange connection for this application, including a replacement gasket for water. This custom-designed solution safely isolates the electrical potentials of the pipeline sections, enhances corrosion protection, and remains reliably leak-tight even at high flow rates and under varying operating conditions. In this way, the connection supports the operational safety of a critical energy infrastructure that will serve as a “green battery” in the future, helping to stabilize the European power grid and integrate renewable energy sources.
